Overview

Take a journey into railway history at the National Railway Museum, Australia’s largest undercover railway museum with over 100 exhibits representing State, Commonwealth and private railway operators on the three major rail gauges used in Australia.

Climb into the cabs of giant steam engines, walk through elegant carriages, enjoy the fun of train rides and interactive and educational displays.

The National Railway Museum is located within the heritage precinct of Lipson Street in Port Adelaide.

The Museum features locomotives, railway carriages, a train ride, exhibits and displays housed within two large fully enclosed pavilions and around the extensive Museum grounds.

Train Rides

Take the family on a ride around the Museum site on the free small train ride, included in price of Museum admission.

Museum Shop

The Museum Shop has a range of railway books, DVD’s, souvenirs, toys and ice creams.

    We had a third birthday party here on one of the family fun days they hold during the holidays with our 3 & 1.5 year old plus extended family – literally everyone had the best time! The grandparents liked the history, I loved the little carriage cafe & the boys rode the 3 trains over & over again!
