First opened to the public in 1883, Adelaide Zoo is the second oldest zoo in the nation and is one of our most iconic attractions.

It’s a relaxing green city oasis and vibrant sanctuary that gives you the feeling of stepping into another world. It’s full of diversity, colour and unique things to see and do. It offers an intimate zoo experience speckled with elements of curiosity, fantasy, fun and surprise.

NATURE'S PLAYGROUND - This fantastic play space is a wonderful environment for visitors of all ages to let their imaginations run wild, have fun, challenge themselves and explore the natural world. There's nature inspired play equipment suitable for all abilities.

Adelaide Zoo has become the first Australian zoo to utilise intuitive iBeacon technology which will transform your next visit by pushing information about the zoo straight to your smart phone, iPad or tablet, thanks to sponsors Beach Energy, technological partner Specialist apps and corporate partner KernWi-Fi for providing free Wi-Fi at Adelaide Zoo. The exciting new technology will act as a personal tour guide during your visit to Adelaide Zoo, providing an interactive map featuring information about the zoo, its animals and conservation work at the touch of a button. As you walk around the zoo, the app will alert you to points of interest around the zoo and provide interesting and practical information such as species facts, the location of the closest facilities and educational tools.

We like the zoo but it’s quite small compared to other zoos in the world and very expensive to get into for our family of 7. If it was more affordable we would go more often.
