Overview
The Botanic Gardens of South Australia comprises three beautiful public gardens:
- Adelaide Botanic Garden in the city
- Mount Lofty Botanic Garden in the Adelaide Hills
- Wittunga Botanic Garden in suburban Blackwood
These gardens provide visitors with a range of cultural, recreational, educational and scientific facilities.
Over 1.8 million people visit these gardens each year including approximately 25,000 school students.
ADELAIDE BOTANIC GARDEN - North Terrace, Adelaide
Located in the heart of the city Adelaide Botanic Garden is a sanctuary of exotic and native plants, iconic cultural collections and historic buildings. Time time out to explore the beauty and diversity of plants from across Australia and around the world, spend time among the 50 hectares of magnificently maintained gardens and stunning architecture.
Marvel at the wonders in the diverse gardens including the Wollemi Pine which dates back to the time of dinosaurs, the mysterious Amazonica waterlily which flowers only at night and Australia’s oldest avenue of Morton Bay Fig trees.
Explore historic buildings including three striking glasshouses, the Palm House, Bicentennial Conservatory and Amazon Waterlily Pavillion.
Discover the Santos Museum of Economic Botany, the last of its kind in the world, to understand why plants are so important to our lives and to be immersed in amazing touring exhibitions.
